Some of the world’s currently most renowned artists exhibited at Havremagasinet during summer 2013. The exhibition “Elemental” included artists from Iceland, USA, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland and Sweden. Curator was Gregory Volk from New York. Assistant curator was Birta Gudjonsdottir.

Iceland and its landscape has for decades influenced many internationally renowned artists. Several of these, each with its complex relationship with Iceland, is participating in these exhibition.
Elemental contains 16 selected Icelandic and international artists with artwork related to the Icelandic. Island with its special and “elementary” forces of nature; seismic activity, volcanoes, glaciers, hot springs, powerful rivers and the huge ocean.

The works on display has a span from the absolute minimalistic to the expansive maximum. From ancient power to the force of nature.
